software developer
Most of my work ends up in the field, on industrial machines running in weather nobody enjoys. I build the desktop tools the crews use during a shift, the web side for whoever reads the numbers afterwards, and the plumbing that carries telemetry from a vehicle to a chart someone trusts.
It is an unforgiving domain, which I like. The hardware is expensive, the conditions do not negotiate, and something downstream is always waiting. That has a way of teaching you what actually matters: interfaces that stay readable under pressure, errors that say what went wrong, and code that behaves the same at 3am as it did in the demo.
